Day 14: “Don’t Jump”

Poetry

headfirst I fell,

bereaved of further thought,

with faith in a fervor

I had no thirst to dare

and surely the subject of my lust

followed my descent

but my body was chaos

and yours was perfect grace.

the ground I met a disheveled fool;

you landed on your feet,

and I knew you never fell in love —

you jumped.

perhaps you bypassed the bruises,

upheld a stable mind;

but if it doesn’t hurt

we can’t deem it real

(just know I felt the pain).
